Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before hiring a car with Canary Islands Luxury Cars. These answers summarise our Terms & Conditions. If something is missing, message Iván directly.
Booking, prices and payment
How do I book a car and how is the booking confirmed?
Bookings are made directly with Iván through WhatsApp or Telegram. Your reservation is confirmed when you receive a message with the agreed pick-up and drop-off dates and times, the car model and the total rental cost.
Is the car I book the exact model I will receive?
Yes, absolutely. Unlike standard rental agencies that offer “or similar” categories, at CILC you book a specific chassis. If you reserve our Ford Mustang Cabrio in Miami Blue or the Mustang GT V8, that is exactly the car we will hand over to you. No surprises, no last-minute swaps.
Note: We guarantee the specific make and model reserved. The only exception occurs if the vehicle is unavailable due to an unforeseen accident or mechanical breakdown prior to your arrival. In such rare cases, we will contact you immediately to offer a free upgrade to a superior category or a full refund.
Does the rental price include insurance?
Yes, we believe in transparent, friction-free pricing. All our quotes include mandatory third-party liability insurance and 24/7 roadside assistance across Tenerife. We do not hide fees.
What happens if the rental car is damaged?
Our rentals include the statutory third-party liability insurance only. Damage to the rented car itself (collision, theft or vandalism) is the renter’s responsibility, and we do not offer additional waivers. We recommend checking whether your credit card or travel insurance covers collision damage before you arrive.
Do rental prices change in peak season?
Daily rates can vary in peak periods such as the summer months or major events. We tell you the exact price before you confirm your reservation.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept major credit and debit cards (Visa & Mastercard) and cash (within legal limits). We also offer bank transfer for advance bookings, by prior agreement between both parties. Our goal is to make the transaction as smooth as the drive itself.
Do I need to pay a security deposit for luxury vehicles?
Yes, a security deposit is required for all our premium vehicles. The amount varies depending on the model. This deposit is fully refundable upon the safe return of the vehicle. We process the release immediately after our “Owner-Check” at drop-off to ensure a frictionless experience.
How much is the security deposit for a Ford Mustang?
The deposit for our standard Ford Mustang models is €1,000. American models with high-end trims and custom features have a deposit of €1,500. It is blocked on a credit or debit card in the main driver’s name at the start of the rental and covers damage, traffic fines, missing fuel, late returns or other charges. We confirm the exact amount when you book.
Can I pay the deposit with a debit card or in cash?
Yes to both. The deposit can be blocked on a credit or debit card (Visa or Mastercard) in the main driver’s name, or paid in cash up to €1,000 in a single transaction, in line with Spanish legal limits. Cheques and traveller’s cheques are not accepted.
When do I get my deposit back?
The deposit is released once the car is back and has been checked in your presence at drop-off, minus any charges for new damage, fines, fuel or other items listed in our Terms & Conditions.
Can I get a refund if I return the car early?
No. The price is based on the pick-up and drop-off dates and times agreed at booking. Once the car has been picked up, no refunds are given for unused days.
Can you refuse or cancel a booking?
Yes. We may refuse or cancel a reservation if a driver does not meet the age or licence requirements, or if we believe the car is likely to be misused. In that case, any amount already paid is refunded in full within 30 days.
Requirements and documents
What is the minimum age to rent a car with CILC?
Requirements vary by vehicle category. For our standard luxury models (such as the Ford Mustang), drivers must be at least 25 years old with a minimum of 5 years of driving experience. These policies are mandated by our insurance providers to guarantee the safety and proper handling of our high-performance fleet.
What documents do I need to rent a car?
At pick-up, the main driver and any additional driver must show original documents: a full, valid driving licence in their own name that has been held for at least five years, and a valid passport or, for EU/EEA nationals, a national ID card. An International Driving Permit is also required if your licence is not in the Roman alphabet or has no photograph. Photocopies are not accepted.
Can I add a second driver?
Yes. An additional driver can be added at pick-up at no charge, with no need to book it in advance. They must meet the same requirements: minimum age, a licence held for five years and valid ID.
Delivery and pick-up
Can CILC deliver the car to my hotel or the airport?
We specialise in VIP delivery exclusively across Tenerife. We can meet you at Tenerife South (TFS) or North (TFN) airports with the paperwork ready, so you can drive away in minutes. We also deliver to private villas, hotels (like Abama or Bahía del Duque), or any specific location on the island. Please note that our delivery and collection services are strictly limited to Tenerife to guarantee our high standards of punctuality and personal care.
Can I take the car to another Canary Island?
No, vehicles are strictly prohibited from leaving the island of Tenerife. Our insurance coverage and 24/7 roadside assistance infrastructure are exclusively established for Tenerife. Transporting the vehicle by ferry to other islands (such as Gran Canaria or La Gomera) voids all insurance protections and constitutes a breach of the rental contract. We enforce this policy to ensure we can provide our full support and guarantee your safety at all times.
Can I return the car to a different location?
Yes. A one-way fee applies, based on the distance between the two locations. It is detailed in your rental agreement summary.
On the road
Are your American cars (Mustangs) suitable for Tenerife’s roads?
They are perfect, and we are the island’s specialists. After years renting Mustangs on the island, Iván Mora has verified that our American fleet handles Tenerife’s terrain beautifully. Our Mustangs are ideal for cruising the coastal motorways, while their suspension is compliant enough for comfortable touring. For tight mountain hairpins (like Masca), Iván will tell you which model and route suit you best.
How do I know the car is in perfect condition?
Because Iván Mora drives them daily. We are not a broker; we own and manage our fleet. Every car undergoes a strict “Owner-Check” before delivery—checking tyre pressure, fluid levels, and engine sound. We guarantee the vehicle is not just safe, but “emotionally ready” for you to enjoy.
Does the rental include unlimited mileage?
Our Ford Mustang rental is quoted with unlimited mileage. If a particular car is offered with a mileage allowance, we state it in your quote before you confirm, and extra kilometres are charged at the rate set in our Terms & Conditions.
What is the fuel policy?
All our cars run on petrol (95 or 98 octane, depending on the model). Return the car with the same fuel level as at pick-up. If it is lower, you pay for the missing fuel at the prevailing rate plus a service fee. Unused fuel is not refunded.
What happens if I return the car late?
A late-return fee is charged per hour: €18 per hour for our standard American cars such as the Ford Mustang, and €28 per hour for American Premium models. If you think you will be late, contact our 24/7 support straight away.
Who pays traffic fines and tolls?
The renter. Fines, tolls and parking tickets incurred during the rental are charged to you, plus a €25 administration fee for processing each one.
Can I smoke or travel with pets in the car?
No. Smoking and animals in the cabin are not allowed, and a minimum cleaning fee of €200 applies if this happens. Standard cleaning is included in the rental price.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Child and booster seats are available at no extra charge, subject to availability.
What is not allowed with the car?
The car may only be driven by the authorised drivers named in the rental agreement, for personal, non-commercial use. Racing, drifting, burnouts, overloading, towing, driving under the influence (Spain’s limit is 0.05% blood alcohol) and fitting stickers or decorations are forbidden. Serious misuse can mean losing the whole security deposit.
What if I lose or damage the car key?
A lost or damaged key or remote is charged at its replacement cost, typically between €300 and €500 depending on the model.
What do I do if I have a breakdown or a flat tyre?
Call our 24/7 support number, which is listed in your rental agreement. Assistance includes breakdown cover, flat tyre service, battery jump-starts and roadside assistance across Tenerife.
Other questions
Do you offer cars for photoshoots or music videos?
Yes, we provide “Camera-Ready” vehicles. We have extensive experience working with production companies for music videos, fashion editorials, and films. We understand “Golden Hour” logistics and can provide a precision driver (often Iván himself) to handle the vehicle on set.
Which law applies to the rental agreement?
The rental agreement is governed by Spanish law and Spanish courts. As an EU consumer you can also use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform to settle a dispute.
